Inside on a hall floor or hardwood surface you have a different grip than outside on concrete or artificial grass. Because there are so many different surfaces, nowadays there are also Outdoor Basketballs. These basketballs are made of rubber, artificial leather or composite leather. Due to these mainly stiffer materials, the grip of the ball remains better on these types of surfaces. The material of an Outdoor Basketball is often cheaper than a full leather ball, which is why an outdoor ball is cheaper than the Indoor basketballs.
If you like to train your basketball skills outside, an indoor ball made of leather is not ideal. Then you better go for an outdoor basketball. Because these are made of stronger material, they close less quickly. A rubber ball is the strongest and wears out very slowly. Only it has a different bounce and little grip. Artificial leather or composite leather are made from a mix of rubber, leather and other materials. This makes these balls feel more like real leather balls and the rubber makes them more durable. Most artificial or composite leather balls also have an inner ball, so it will bounce off the ring less quickly when you hit it.
